Safe & Vault Relocation Services

Moving an antique safe is not a job for a standard moving crew, and treating it like one is how safes get damaged — or how people get hurt. Our safe relocation services exist because these pieces combine extreme weight, fragile decorative finishes, and, often, genuine historical value, all in one object that still needs to physically get from one place to another.
Weight and rigging are the first challenge on almost every job.

Antique safes routinely weigh well into the thousands of pounds — one full restoration we completed involved a 6,100-pound piece that had to be carefully broken down, with the outer door removed from its hinges just to make the interior boltwork safely accessible for the rest of the project.

Moving a safe like that isn’t a matter of brute force; it’s a matter of proper rigging, load-bearing equipment, and a plan for doorways, stairs, and floor loading that a standard moving dolly was never designed to handle.

Distance is rarely a limiting factor for us, either.
We’ve traveled well over 1,000 miles — more than 34 hours on the road, including a blown tire along the way on one memorable trip — to retrieve a safe for a client, because for a piece with real historical or sentimental value, “too far away” usually isn’t the right reason to pass on a project.
Protecting the finish and mechanism in transit matters as much as the physical move itself.

A safe with an original hand-painted mural, gold leaf, or a delicate time-lock mechanism can be damaged by rough handling just as easily as by force at the point of entry.

We crate and secure every safe specifically to protect it from the elements and from shifting during transport, whether that means moving a piece into our shop for restoration or delivering a completed restoration back to a client’s home or business.

“White glove” relocation means the safe arrives the way it left — nothing shifted, nothing scuffed, nothing compromised.

That standard applies whether we’re moving a piece that still needs restoration or delivering one that’s already been fully restored and is ready for its final placement. If you’re planning a move for a safe that also needs restoration work, our restoration process page covers what that involves, and we’re happy to talk through both at once.
